C’è chi le unghie le fa per estetica, chi per abitudine, chi per lavoro. E poi c’è Alice Besana, in arte BVBY, che le unghie le trasforma in un manifesto personale. Nail artist dall’identità decisa e dallo stile inconfondibile, ha fatto della sua passione un percorso fuori dagli schemi, guidato da intuizione, istinto e un’attitudine dichiaratamente extra.

Tutto è iniziato quando aveva quindici o sedici anni, andando a farsi le unghie da ragazze della sua zona. Pochi soldi, tanta fantasia. Chiedeva lunghezze estreme e decorazioni audaci, spesso troppo complesse da realizzare. “Non le biasimo”, racconta, “fino a qualche anno fa in Italia si faceva soprattutto la French”. Poi è arrivato il lockdown. Con la casa come laboratorio e Amazon come fornitore, ha iniziato da autodidatta, testando materiali e forme senza tutorial, solo con i consigli di chi l’aveva fatta sognare fino a quel momento. Le prime prove con l’acrilico – figlio della sua fascinazione per le unghie americane, spesse e lunghe – le hanno fatto capire subito che serviva tecnica e consapevolezza. Così è passata al gel classico, continuando a sperimentare, ricevere feedback, crescere.

Con il tempo le amiche sono diventate clienti, e il suo stile ha iniziato a girare, colpire, incuriosire. Extra, vistoso, sfrontato. “Adoro tutto ciò che è trash, esagerato, too much ed eccentrico”, dice. Non si nasconde e anzi, rivendica il diritto all’eccesso. La nail art per lei non è solo forma estetica, ma un linguaggio che riscrive le regole con ironia e precisione. Da qui nasce il suo profilo Instagram, @bvbyclaws , oggi diventato logo, brand, identità visiva.

La sua fonte d’ispirazione numero uno? La moda. Trame, tessuti, gioielli, accessori: ogni set è pensato per dialogare con l’outfit, come se le unghie fossero parte integrante del look. Le influenze sono molteplici: dalla scuola americana per le tecniche di costruzione a quella giapponese – in particolare il mondo gyaru – per le vibes decorative. E poi ovviamente i trend, che filtra con occhio personale e rielabora nel suo universo visuale.

Dietro ogni set c’è una vera e propria fase di ricerca. Si parte da Pinterest, creando moodboard tematiche, fino ad arrivare all’interpretazione personale degli elementi salvati: applicazioni, trame, accessori, rielaborati in chiave BVBY. Ogni cliente ha gusti propri, certo, ma quando ha carta bianca riesce a dare davvero il meglio. Il processo creativo può durare dalle due alle cinque ore, ma il tempo non è mai una perdita: “ne vale assolutamente la pena”.

Non mancano esperimenti e sfide: dal set ispirato alle rane – uno dei suoi primi su press-on custom – fino all’utilizzo di materiali non convenzionali come piercing, catene, gioielli riciclati, perline e fiocchi. Le tecniche di ricostruzione sono molte e le varia per mettersi alla prova, ma la decorazione è il vero campo da gioco, quello in cui si diverte a inventare e rompere le regole.

Le unghie non sono solo il suo lavoro. Sono passione, vocazione, forza. “Adoro vedere le mie clienti felici”, racconta. “Mi danno soddisfazione, mi fanno sentire riconosciuta per quello che so fare”. In un mondo che spesso cerca di ridurre l’estetica a qualcosa di superficiale, BVBY urla la sua verità a colpi di glitter, spessori e visioni. Con un mantra che è tutto un programma: be extra, bitch.
